Han is currently in Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special representative, at the invitation of the United States.
During the meeting, Han highlighted the recent phone conversation between President Xi and President-elect Trump, noting that they reached important common understandings on the development of China-U.S. relations. He underscored that China and the United States share broad common interests and immense potential for cooperation. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of the two countries and meets the expectations of the international community,\" Han stated.
He praised the U.S. business community as the backbone of China-U.S. relations, referring to them as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. Han reiterated China's commitment to advancing reform and opening-up and to continuously improving its business environment.
Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They welcomed the positive message from the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi. \"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they stated.
The business leaders voiced their support for strengthening dialogue and communication between the two nations to further advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.
On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies like Tesla to seize opportunities in China's market and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations. Musk expressed Tesla's readiness to deepen investment and cooperation with China, aiming to play an active role in enhancing economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.
