Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen China-U.S. Relations

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with prominent U.S. business leaders in Washington D.C. on Sunday, emphasizing the significance of continued investment and cooperation between the Chinese mainland and the United States. Han expressed hope that U.S. companies would continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China, serving as a bridge to foster steady, sound, and sustainable development of bilateral relations.

Han made these remarks during meetings with representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He is visiting Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, acting as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping at the invitation of the United States.

In his discussions with the U.S. business community, Han highlighted the recent phone conversation between President Xi and President-elect Trump, noting that they reached important common understandings on the progression of China-U.S. relations. He underscored the broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation between the two nations, stating that initiating the bilateral relationship on a positive note and maintaining steady growth serves the well-being of both peoples and meets international expectations.

\"The U.S. business community has always been the backbone of China-U.S. relations,\" Han said, acknowledging their role as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as China's reform and opening-up initiatives. He reaffirmed China's commitment to advancing reform and opening-up efforts and continuously improving the business environment.

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They welcomed the positive message from the recent conversation between Trump and Xi, emphasizing that as the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards a constructive and stable coexistence. They voiced support for strengthening dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday. During their meeting, Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities and share in the fruits of China's development. He encouraged greater contributions to promoting economic and trade relations between the United States and China.

Musk expressed enthusiasm for deepening Tesla's investment and cooperation in China, pledging to play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
