Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of strengthening economic ties and mutual cooperation between the Chinese mainland and the United States.
During the meeting in Washington D.C., Han expressed hope that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China. He encouraged them to play an active role as a bridge between the two nations and contribute to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.
Han noted that China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation. He stated that fostering a positive and stable bilateral relationship serves the well-being of the peoples of both countries and meets the expectations of the international community.
The vice president highlighted that the U.S. business community has always been a backbone of China-U.S. relations, serving as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China’s reform and opening-up initiatives. He assured that China will continue to advance its reform and opening-up efforts and improve its business environment.
Representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce expressed optimism about China’s economic prospects and the opportunities for development. They supported strengthening dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.
Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, welcoming U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities and share in the fruits of China’s development. He encouraged greater contributions to promoting economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.
Musk expressed readiness to deepen investment and cooperation in China and to play an active role in enhancing economic and trade relations between the two countries.
