Han emphasized the importance of U.S. businesses in acting as a bridge to strengthen China-U.S. relations and contribute to their steady, sound, and sustainable development.
Han is visiting Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping. During his meeting with U.S. business leaders from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han noted that President Xi and President-elect Trump had recently reached important common understandings regarding the development of China-U.S. relations during a phone call.
\"China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,\" Han stated. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of the two countries and meets the expectations of the international community.\"
He highlighted the pivotal role of the U.S. business community as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation and China's reform and opening-up efforts. Han assured that China would unwaveringly advance its reform and opening-up policies and continue to improve its business environment.
Representatives from the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They welcomed the positive and encouraging message from the recent phone conversation between President-elect Trump and President Xi. \"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they conveyed.
The business leaders affirmed their support for strengthening dialogue and communication between the two nations to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.
On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed Tesla and other U.S. companies to seize opportunities to share in the fruits of China's development and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations. Musk expressed Tesla's readiness to deepen investment and cooperation in China and to play an active role in fostering economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.
