Han Zheng held discussions with representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and other members of the U.S. business community. He emphasized the importance of China-U.S. relations, noting that President Xi and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump recently reached significant common understandings during a phone conversation about the development of bilateral ties.

“China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,” Han stated. “Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of the two countries and meets the expectations of the international community.”

Han acknowledged the vital role of the U.S. business community as a cornerstone in China-U.S. relations, highlighting its contributions to bilateral economic and trade cooperation and China’s reform and opening-up efforts. He reiterated China’s commitment to advancing reform and opening up, pledging to continue improving the business environment.

“We hope that U.S. companies will continue to invest in China, take root in the country, and actively play the role of a bridge, contributing to the healthy, stable, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations,” Han added.

U.S. business leaders expressed optimism about China’s economic prospects and opportunities for development. They welcomed the positive signals from the recent conversation between President Trump and President Xi, viewing it as encouraging for future cooperation.

“As the world’s two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,” they agreed.

On the same day, Han Zheng met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed Tesla’s continued investment in China and expressed hope for deeper cooperation.

“China welcomes U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize the opportunity to share in the fruits of China’s development and make greater contributions to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations,” Han said.

Musk expressed enthusiasm for expanding Tesla’s operations in China and underscored the company’s commitment to strengthening economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.

Han Zheng is in Washington, D.C., to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as President Xi’s special representative at the invitation of the U.S. side.
