Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington D.C. on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between China and the United States for mutual benefit and global stability.
Han, who is in Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping, met with leaders from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
During the meeting, Han expressed hope that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China, serving as bridges to enhance bilateral relations. \"We welcome U.S. businesses to seize the opportunities presented by China's ongoing reform and opening-up, and to contribute to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations,\" Han said.
He highlighted the recent phone conversation between President Xi and President-elect Trump, stating that they reached important common understandings regarding the future of China-U.S. ties. Han noted that the two countries share broad common interests and have vast potential for cooperation in various fields.
\"The U.S. business community has always been a backbone of China-U.S. relations,\" Han remarked. \"You have been participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of our economic and trade cooperation.\"

On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed Tesla's deepening investment and cooperation with China, encouraging the company to share in the fruits of China's development. \"We are ready to expand our collaboration with China and play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between our countries,\" Musk responded.
