China and the United Kingdom have reached 69 mutually beneficial agreements during their latest economic and financial dialogue, pledging to build an open world economy, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun.
At a regular news briefing on Monday, Guo announced that “the two sides reached 69 win-win outcomes” during the 11th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue, which was co-chaired by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves in Beijing on Saturday.
During the dialogue, both nations expressed a common willingness to uphold multilateralism and economic globalization. They committed to supporting the rules-based multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization at its core and to building an open world economy.
“The two sides believe that China-UK cooperation is conducive to the development of both countries,” Guo stated. He added that both nations agreed to work together to maintain secure, stable, and smooth global production and supply chains, oppose decoupling, reduce barriers to two-way investment, and promote a non-discriminatory and open business environment.
The dialogue also resulted in consensus on industry, agriculture, and energy cooperation. Finance was highlighted as a key area of China-UK collaboration, with both sides expressing willingness to strengthen cooperation on financial policies and regulations, and to achieve practical outcomes on two-way opening and connectivity of financial markets.
Guo emphasized that the outcomes of the dialogue reflect the breadth and depth of China-UK economic and financial cooperation, benefiting both countries and the world. “China is ready to work with the UK to deliver the outcomes,” he said.
