CGTN Poll: Over 92% Confident in China’s Economic Outlook Amid Global Slowdown

In a recent online poll conducted by CGTN, an overwhelming 92.4 percent of respondents expressed optimism about China’s economic outlook, highlighting global confidence in China’s role as a key engine of economic growth. The poll comes on the heels of China’s most significant annual economic conference, which emphasized that the nation’s main economic and social development goals for the year are on track to be successfully achieved.

The positive sentiment serves as a much-needed boost for the struggling global economy. One CGTN viewer commented, “Any growth in China means continued and diversified goods, with people around the world closely watching China’s economy, just as they would watch the development of supermarkets that are closely tied to daily life.”

China’s economy has demonstrated remarkable resilience amid global challenges. In the first three quarters of the year, the economy grew by 4.8 percent. There has been a continued increase in newly established foreign-invested enterprises, a significant rebound in consumption growth, and robust expansion in goods trade. Recent data points to a warming trend in China’s economic outlook.

Notably, expansionary policies introduced in the third quarter are considered some of the most significant economic adjustment measures in recent years, leading to a clear recovery. In the CGTN survey, 90.7 percent of respondents affirmed the potential and resilience of China’s economy, while many recognized policies aimed at boosting consumption and improving investment efficiency.

A total of 88.2 percent of respondents believe that consumer-focused policies, such as trade-in programs for old products, reflect China’s efforts to stimulate domestic consumption while enhancing the standard of living. These measures are seen as approaches other countries could learn from.

Amid a backdrop of slowing global economic growth, China’s performance stands out among major economies. 89.4 percent of respondents believe that steady development in China’s economy is crucial for global economic recovery. Furthermore, 87.2 percent are eager to benefit from China’s high-level opening-up policies and share in its development opportunities.

The recent conference reiterated the commitment to expand high-level opening-up, increasing both autonomous and unilateral openings. Since the beginning of the year, China has expanded visa-free entry to more countries, providing greater convenience for international exchanges and promoting deeper cooperation in international trade.

An impressive 93.2 percent of respondents approved of these measures, with one CGTN viewer noting, “Not needing a visa for short-term business trips to China is very helpful for international investors with business in China.”

As China continues to implement policies that fortify its economy and enhance global collaboration, the international community watches closely. The optimistic outlook shared by respondents reflects a broader confidence in China’s ability to contribute positively to the global economic landscape.
