In a significant move to further open up its economy, China has announced that products manufactured by foreign-funded companies within the Chinese mainland will be eligible for the same price preference as domestic goods in government procurement bids, according to a statement from the Ministry of Finance (MOF).
The recent MOF notice, which is currently open for public comment, unveiled a 20 percent price preference in government procurement for goods produced domestically. This policy aims to treat domestic and foreign-funded enterprises equally, allowing any company, regardless of ownership, to benefit as long as its products meet the specified criteria.
