China’s Business Community Condemns U.S. Semiconductor Export Controls

China’s business community has firmly opposed the United States’ recent tightening of semiconductor export controls, accusing the U.S. of abusing trade measures and undermining global supply chains.

In a statement released on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) expressed strong opposition to the U.S. government’s actions, which include stricter controls on semiconductor manufacturing equipment and memory chip exports to China, as well as adding 136 Chinese entities to its Entity List.

“The United States’ economic coercion, blockades, and suppression of Chinese enterprises in relevant industries seriously violate the laws of the market economy and the principles of fair competition,” the spokesperson said.

The CCPIT spokesperson criticized the U.S. for disregarding international economic and trade rules, stating that such unilateral actions undermine the stability and cooperative nature of global industrial and supply chains. “These actions will undoubtedly have a severe impact on the global semiconductor industry, including U.S. companies,” the spokesperson warned.

Highlighting the importance of collaboration, the spokesperson noted that the global semiconductor industry has always maintained close communication and cooperation. “The abuse of unilateral sanctions will greatly undermine the foundations of the global semiconductor industry’s development, as well as cooperation within the industry,” the spokesperson added.

The CCPIT called for safeguarding the resilience and stability of global industrial and supply chains, emphasizing that this is crucial to the sustainable development of the global economy and serves the common interests of the international community and enterprises worldwide.

“China’s business community calls on the United States to cease its unilateral control measures immediately, abide by international economic and trade rules, and take concrete actions to promote the healthy development of the global semiconductor industry,” the spokesperson urged. “This is essential to safeguard the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains and to build them into mutually beneficial chains for the world.”
