China Reaffirms Commitment to High-Level Opening Up, Says Wang Yi

Beijing, China — In a clear message to the global community, Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s dedication to advancing development through high-level opening up. Speaking at a promotional event on Wednesday showcasing the Hainan Free Trade Port, Wang emphasized China’s resolve to foster a business environment that is market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized.

“China remains committed to openness and collaboration,” Wang stated, highlighting the nation’s intention to promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and implement the Global Development Initiative. He underscored the momentum gained in constructing the Hainan Free Trade Port, noting its appeal to regional and global enterprises as a new frontier of institutional opening up.

“The Hainan Free Trade Port has evolved into a hotspot for regional cooperation and a new engine driving economic globalization,” Wang remarked. He extended an invitation to the world: “Seeing is believing, and everyone is welcome to visit Hainan and gain firsthand experience.”

Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, assured that China will adhere to principles of open, innovative, green, inclusive, and peaceful development. “Choosing China means choosing opportunities, and embracing China means embracing the future,” he declared.

The event in Beijing drew over 500 attendees, including diplomats and officials from more than 160 countries, representatives from international organizations, central and local government officials, and business leaders. Officials from Hainan province presented insights into the opportunities available at the Free Trade Port.

Established as part of a master plan released in June 2020, the Hainan Free Trade Port aims to transform the island into a globally influential, high-level free trade port by the middle of the century. This initiative reflects China’s strategic move to deepen reform and opening up, contributing to sustainable economic growth and international cooperation.
