Global Agricultural Leaders Convene in Beijing to Advance South-South Cooperation

Global agricultural experts and officials from across the developing world gathered in Beijing on Friday to chart a course for enhanced South-South agricultural cooperation. The Global South I-Dialogue on Agriculture served as a platform for delegates to share successful cases and explore future collaborations aimed at strengthening agricultural development.

Co-hosted by the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center (FECC) under China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), the event brought together representatives from various sectors. According to a media statement from the FECC, participants included government officials from countries such as Sri Lanka, Morocco, and Uganda; delegates from international organizations like the UNOSSC and the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO); and representatives from major financial institutions including the World Bank, the African Development Bank, and the Finance Center for South-South Cooperation.

The dialogue focused on exploring new opportunities within the Global South. By fostering stronger partnerships and sharing innovative solutions, the participants aimed to promote sustainable agricultural practices, enhance food production, and improve rural livelihoods across developing nations.
