Known as the “Olympic Games” of the financial world, the SWIFT International Banker’s Operation Seminar 2024 (SIBOS 2024) kicked off in Beijing on Monday. This marks the first time the conference is being held on the Chinese mainland.
SIBOS is a leading global conference for the financial industry, organized by the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT). It brings together thought leaders, decision-makers, and industry experts to shape the future of finance.
This year’s event has attracted more than 10,000 guests from over 150 countries and regions. Under the theme “Connecting the Future of Finance,” the conference aims to foster collaboration and innovation across the global financial landscape.
Yin Yong, Mayor of the Beijing Municipal Government, and Lu Lei, Deputy Governor of the People’s Bank of China, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Javier Perez-Tasso, Global CEO of SWIFT, and Bill Winters, Group Chief Executive of Standard Chartered, also shared insights and opening remarks.
The conference features over 250 sessions with more than 500 esteemed speakers covering topics such as banking, payments, digital assets, trade finance, artificial intelligence, and sustainable finance.
The exhibition area is divided into the main exhibition and a financial technology showcase. The main exhibition hosts representatives from 133 financial and third-party institutions, including 114 international companies. Notable participants include major European and American institutions like J.P. Morgan Chase, Citibank, and HSBC.
