Swiss Ambassador to China Jürg Burri spoke at the 2024 China-Europe Talent Forum, emphasizing the shared challenges that China and Europe face in the modern era. Among the most pressing issues, he highlighted aging populations and the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI).
“Both China and Europe are navigating the complexities of demographic shifts,” Burri stated in an interview with CGTN. “Our societies are aging, which poses significant implications for our economies and social structures.”
Burri pointed out that the rise of AI presents both opportunities and challenges for the workforce. “Artificial intelligence is transforming industries across the globe,” he said. “To harness its potential, our labor forces must adapt to new technologies and develop new skill sets.”
The ambassador underscored the importance of mutual learning and collaboration between China and Europe. “By sharing experiences and strategies, we can better address these common challenges,” he remarked. “Cooperation is essential for fostering innovation and ensuring sustainable development.”
The 2024 China-Europe Talent Forum served as a platform for leaders, academics, and professionals to discuss ways to strengthen ties and promote talent exchange between the two regions.
Burri expressed optimism about the future of China-Europe relations. “Through continued dialogue and partnership, we can overcome obstacles and build a prosperous future for both our people,” he concluded.
