BEIJING — German manufacturing leaders have voiced strong opposition to the European Union’s proposed additional tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles (EVs), labeling the move a significant misstep that could hinder global automotive progress.
During a recent visit to China to study leading automotive firms, a delegation of German smart manufacturing companies expressed their concerns over the EU’s tariff discussions. They emphasized that open trade and collaboration are essential for innovation and growth in the rapidly evolving EV sector.
“Imposing additional tariffs on Chinese EVs could disrupt the global supply chain and slow down technological advancements,” a spokesperson for the delegation stated. “We believe that cooperation, not protectionism, is the key to driving the automotive industry forward.”
