According to data from Ctrip, one of China’s leading online travel agencies, family bookings accounted for 35 percent of overall summer orders, with educational travel orders increasing by an impressive 175 percent.

These regions have emerged as favored summer escapes, offering respite from the heat and opportunities to explore diverse landscapes and cultures.

Beyond the allure of cooler climates, there’s a noticeable trend among travelers seeking spiritual and cultural fulfillment. Cultural events and venues have gained immense popularity, with concerts, music festivals, and anime and gaming conventions drawing large crowds. Immersive experiences at cultural venues and historical districts continue to rise, as people look to connect more deeply with China’s rich heritage.

The rise in educational and cultural tourism highlights a shift in travel preferences, where experiences that enrich the mind and spirit are becoming as sought after as traditional leisure activities. Families are increasingly combining vacations with learning opportunities, integrating educational experiences into their travel plans.
