On Monday, New York City became the stage for a significant global dialogue on China’s ongoing reforms. The “Global Opportunities in Deepening China’s Reform in the New Era” Global Dialogue Series, organized by China Media Group (CMG), brought together nearly 100 representatives from the United States’ political, business, and academic communities.
Shen Haixiong, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President of CMG, attended the event alongside Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng and Robert Lawrence Kuhn, Chairman of the Kuhn Foundation.
In his address, Shen emphasized the importance of comprehensively deepening reform in China. He highlighted CMG’s commitment to sharing stories about China’s reform and opening up, as well as Chinese modernization. “CMG will continue to actively shoulder its responsibilities as a media outlet, promote cultural exchanges, and carry out extensive cooperation with cultural institutions, international organizations, and think tanks,” Shen said. “We aim to share the world’s opportunities in deepening China’s reform in the new era.”
Ambassador Xie Feng elaborated on the spirit of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, noting that the session outlined a blueprint for further deepening reform to advance Chinese modernization. He described it as a continuation of China’s consistent reform efforts. Xie emphasized the need for China and the United States to complement each other and promote sound, stable, and sustainable development of bilateral relations based on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.
Robert Lawrence Kuhn, a recipient of the China Reform Friendship Medal, remarked on the significance of the plenary session, stating that it sends an important signal that China will unswervingly advance reform and opening up. Expressing full confidence in China’s development prospects, Kuhn encouraged the American business community to seize the opportunities brought by China’s reforms and invest in the country.
The event served as a platform for open dialogue and exchange, highlighting the global interest in China’s reform trajectory and its implications for international cooperation and economic development.
