Death Toll from Anti-Tax Protests in Kenya Rises to 50

The death toll from anti-tax protests in Kenya has risen to 50, with 413 individuals injured, the government-funded Kenya National Commission on Human Rights reported on Tuesday.

Youth-led nationwide demonstrations, which erupted a month ago against proposed tax hikes, have persisted even after President William Ruto withdrew the legislation and dismissed nearly all of his cabinet members. The protesters continue to express dissatisfaction, demanding further action from the government.

On Tuesday, renewed anti-government protests swept across the country. According to a Reuters report, at least one person was killed as police clashed with demonstrators calling for President Ruto to step down.

The ongoing unrest highlights deep-seated frustrations over economic challenges and governance in Kenya. The protests have disrupted daily life and raised concerns about stability in the region.

The international community watches closely as the situation unfolds, emphasizing the need for dialogue and resolution to restore peace and address the grievances of the Kenyan people.
