Astana, Kazakhstan — China’s commitment to enhancing Kazakhstan’s energy infrastructure is reshaping the nation’s landscape. Since 2006, China Communications Construction Group Company Limited (CCCC) has played a pivotal role in this transformation through the development of the Turgusun and Moinak Hydropower Projects.
The Turgusun Hydropower Project, nestled in the East Kazakhstan Region, and the Moinak Hydropower Project in the Almaty Region have significantly increased Kazakhstan’s renewable energy capacity. These projects not only supply sustainable power but also contribute to the stability and efficiency of the national grid.
Wang Haihuai, president of CCCC, shared insights during an interview with CGTN reporter He Jingyi in Kazakhstan. He highlighted the positive effects of the hydropower plants on local communities, emphasizing job creation and technological exchange. “Our collaboration goes beyond infrastructure. We’re investing in the future of Kazakhstan by fostering local talent and promoting sustainable development,” Wang remarked.
These hydropower projects align with Kazakhstan’s strategic goals to diversify its energy sources and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. By harnessing the power of its abundant waterways, Kazakhstan is making strides toward a greener, more resilient energy system.
Looking ahead, CCCC is exploring additional opportunities to support Kazakhstan’s infrastructure and energy sectors. Wang Haihuai expressed optimism about future collaborations, stating, “We are committed to deepening our partnership with Kazakhstan, focusing on projects that drive economic growth and improve the quality of life for its people.”
The success of the Turgusun and Moinak projects exemplifies the potential of international cooperation in achieving sustainable development goals. As Kazakhstan continues on its path toward modernization, partnerships like these will play a crucial role in shaping the nation’s future.
