PepsiCo Strengthens Commitment to Chinese Economy with New Xi’an Plant

In a move that underscores its commitment to the Chinese economy, PepsiCo has announced the establishment of a new plant in Xi’an. Daniel Shih, Corporate Affairs Vice President of PepsiCo APAC, stated in an interview with CGTN that the company will continue to be an active participant and contributor to China’s economic success.

Responding to China’s call to develop the western region, PepsiCo’s decision to build its newest plant in Xi’an reflects a strategic alignment with national initiatives aimed at regional growth. “By investing in Xi’an, we are not only expanding our operational footprint but also supporting the economic development of the region,” Shih explained.

The new facility is expected to enhance PepsiCo’s production capabilities and supply chain efficiency within the country. It signals the company’s confidence in the Chinese market and its long-term potential. “China remains one of our most important markets globally, and we are dedicated to fostering sustainable growth here,” added Shih.

PepsiCo’s investment is anticipated to generate new employment opportunities and contribute to the local economy in Xi’an, a city known for its rich history and emerging economic significance. The move aligns with broader efforts to stimulate development in western China, promoting balanced economic progress across the country.

This development follows a series of investments by multinational companies seeking to tap into China’s expansive consumer market and participate in its ongoing economic transformation. PepsiCo’s expansion in Xi’an underscores the attractiveness of the region for global businesses and highlights the collaborative potential between international corporations and Chinese regional economies.
