Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese have pledged to strengthen China-Australia relations, emphasizing the mutual benefits of a stable partnership between the two nations.
During a welcome banquet hosted by the Chinese community in Australia, Premier Li highlighted the importance of fostering sound and stable relations. “Facts have proven that sound and stable China-Australia relations serve the common interests of the two peoples and meet the common expectations of regional countries,” he stated.
Li noted that his visit included extensive discussions with Australian leaders and people from various sectors, revealing a shared desire to develop and maintain strong bilateral ties. Both sides agreed to adhere to the positioning of a comprehensive strategic partnership, aiming to expand and deepen practical cooperation across various fields for the common interests of their peoples.
The Chinese premier also acknowledged the significant role of the overseas Chinese community in Australia. “Overseas Chinese in Australia are important members of Australia’s diverse society and have played a unique role in promoting economic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries,” Li said, expressing hope that they will continue to support the development of China-Australia relations.
Addressing economic prospects, Li expressed confidence in China’s economic trajectory. “China’s economy has continued to rebound and improve against the backdrop of sluggish global economic growth, with new growth drivers gaining momentum,” he said. He assured that a prosperous and more open China would bring new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Australia.
Prime Minister Albanese, in his remarks, thanked the overseas Chinese community for their positive contributions to Australia’s economic and social development and multicultural prosperity. He noted that the economies of Australia and China are highly complementary and that China’s development has benefited Australia.
“Australia is willing to strengthen communication and exchange with China, deepen cooperation in various fields, and promote more fruitful results in Australia-China relations,” Albanese affirmed.
