Lancang-Mekong Nations Strengthen Smart Agriculture Collaboration at Beijing Seminar

The 2024 Seminar for Lancang-Mekong Regional Smart Agriculture, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of China, has successfully concluded in Beijing. The event brought together agricultural experts and officials from the Lancang-Mekong region to explore advancements in smart agriculture and foster regional collaboration.

Participants expressed that learning about China’s developments in smart agriculture has provided them with valuable insights for the future of agriculture in their own countries. “China’s innovative approaches to smart farming offer us a clearer direction in modernizing our agricultural practices,” said one of the attendees to CGTN’s Li Mengyuan.

The seminar focused on sharing experiences and technologies in areas such as precision farming, digital agriculture, and sustainable development. By leveraging smart agriculture, countries in the Lancang-Mekong region aim to enhance food security, improve crop yields, and promote sustainable agricultural practices.

The Lancang-Mekong cooperation mechanism, which includes China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, serves as a platform for fostering economic and technological collaboration in the region. Strengthening agricultural ties is seen as a critical component in promoting regional development and improving the livelihoods of people in these countries.

As the seminar concluded, participants expressed optimism about the future of agricultural cooperation in the region. The shared knowledge and experiences are expected to lead to increased collaboration and the implementation of smart agricultural solutions tailored to the needs of each country.
