Starting June 15, high-speed sleeper trains will begin operating between Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, significantly enhancing connectivity between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong. The China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway) announced on Tuesday that this new service will facilitate overnight travel, reducing journey times and promoting greater exchange.
The upgraded high-speed services will replace the existing non-high-speed trains, allowing passengers to travel between Beijing and Hong Kong in approximately 12 hours, and between Shanghai and Hong Kong in about 11 hours. The new high-speed sleeper trains will operate from Beijing West Railway Station and Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station to Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Station.
