Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the need to improve modern tourism systems and accelerate the development of China into a strong nation in tourism.
In an official instruction on tourism sector work, President Xi highlighted that China’s tourism industry has grown into a significant emerging and strategic pillar that enhances people’s well-being and sense of happiness. He noted that China has paved a unique path in tourism development with distinct characteristics.
Addressing both new opportunities and challenges in the new era, President Xi called for a holistic approach that balances government and market forces, supply and demand, protection and development, domestic and international markets, as well as development and security.
“Developing the tourism sector is essential to further promote economic development, showcase China’s image, and enhance exchanges between civilizations,” Xi stated.
He urged all regions and departments to take concrete actions to promote the high-quality development of the tourism industry, ensuring its steady and sustainable growth.
A national meeting on the development of the tourism sector was held on Friday in Beijing. Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, conveyed President Xi’s important instruction at the meeting.
Li emphasized the importance of studying and implementing President Xi’s directives and remarks on tourism development. He called for efforts to protect cultural heritage and ecological resources, enhance the quality of services and supply in the tourism sector, and deepen international tourism exchanges and cooperation.
