WEF Managing Director Sees Bright Future for Emerging Markets Amid Global Challenges

During a special meeting on “Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development” held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, World Economic Forum (WEF) Managing Director Saadia Zahidi expressed optimism about the future of emerging markets, despite ongoing geopolitical tensions and global economic challenges.

In an exclusive interview with CGTN, Zahidi highlighted key factors contributing to this positive outlook. She emphasized the growing importance of South-South cooperation, noting increased trade and partnerships between countries in Asia and Africa as significant drivers of growth. “Trade between many countries in Southeast Asia and collaborations between China and Africa are creating new opportunities,” she said.

Zahidi also pointed out that the current global environment, where traditional economic models are being re-evaluated, offers emerging markets a chance to innovate and attract investment. She believes that nations can leverage this period of change to create new markets and become more appealing to investors seeking fresh opportunities.

The meeting in Riyadh brought together global leaders and experts to discuss strategies for sustainable growth and energy development. Zahidi’s insights underscore the potential for emerging markets to play a pivotal role in shaping the future economic landscape.
