The track-laying work for a crucial 108-kilometer-long section of the Hungary-Serbia Railway between Novi Sad and Subotica in Serbia was completed on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in the project’s development.
Connecting Belgrade and Budapest, the Hungary-Serbia Railway is a benchmark infrastructure project under the Belt and Road Initiative. Once completed, it will enhance connectivity between Central and Eastern Europe, promoting economic growth and regional cooperation.
The total length of the railway is 341.7 kilometers, with 183.1 kilometers located within Serbia. Currently, the overall construction of the Novi Sad-Subotica section is 80 percent complete, bringing the project closer to its goal of facilitating faster and more efficient cross-border transportation.
The completion of track-laying on this section not only signifies progress in the railway’s construction but also represents a strengthening of ties between Hungary and Serbia. The railway is expected to play a pivotal role in boosting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange in the region.
