China Voices Concerns Over U.S. Trade Restrictions at High-Level Talks

China has expressed significant concerns over the economic and trade restrictions imposed by the United States during the fourth meeting of the China-U.S. economic working group in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.

The meeting was co-chaired by Chinese Vice Minister of Finance Liao Min and U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Jay Shambaugh. Both sides engaged in what China’s Ministry of Finance described as “in-depth, candid, pragmatic, and constructive” exchanges concerning the macroeconomic situations of their countries and the global economy, as well as discussions on achieving balanced growth.

During the talks, China responded to issues related to its production capacity and emphasized the importance of open dialogue and cooperation to address mutual concerns. The discussions are seen as a critical step toward easing economic tensions and fostering mutual understanding between the two nations.

Both parties acknowledged the need for continued communication to address bilateral economic and trade issues, aiming to create a more favorable environment for global economic stability and growth. The meeting underscores the significance of collaboration between China and the United States in navigating the complexities of the global economy.
