Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao Meets French Leaders to Boost Trade Ties

On Monday, Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade Franck Riester in Paris to discuss bilateral economic and trade relations. The meeting comes as China and France celebrate 60 years of diplomatic ties, marking a milestone in their enduring partnership.

Minister Wang highlighted the continuous improvement in both the scale and quality of economic and trade cooperation between the two nations over the past six decades. He emphasized that the Chinese government is committed to promoting high-quality development and accelerating the cultivation of new productive forces. Wang assured that China is actively creating a level playing field for both domestic and foreign enterprises, which will offer greater market opportunities for French and other European businesses.

French Minister Riester expressed France’s support for free trade and affirmed his country’s willingness to address the needs of Chinese companies operating in France. He committed to fostering a fair and equitable business environment for them.

During his visit to Paris, Minister Wang also engaged with several French multinational entrepreneurs. He reiterated that openness is a defining characteristic of contemporary China. Wang stated that the Chinese government is dedicated to improving the business environment and providing service guarantees for foreign enterprises investing and operating in China.
