Xinjiang Sees Over 62% Boost in Tourism Revenue During Qingming Festival

Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region witnessed a remarkable surge in tourism revenue during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday, with earnings increasing by 62.33% to nearly 2.2 billion yuan (approximately $310 million), according to official data from the regional culture and tourism department.

The region attracted 2.21 million tourists, marking a year-on-year growth of 20.53%. This significant influx of visitors is attributed to Xinjiang’s introduction of a variety of cultural and tourism events that combined sightseeing with local customs, sports, and fruit-picking activities, offering a diverse and innovative experience aimed at attracting tourists.

From April to June, various prefectures in Xinjiang plan to organize over 300 cultural and tourism activities. The regional culture and tourism department announced that more than 80 preferential policies, including reduced admission fees to scenic spots and discounts on dining and accommodation, will be implemented. These measures are designed to further stimulate cultural and tourism consumption, igniting vitality in the region’s cultural and tourism market.

The robust growth in Xinjiang’s tourism sector during the Qingming Festival reflects a broader trend of economic revitalization and increased domestic travel within China. By leveraging its unique cultural heritage and natural beauty, Xinjiang continues to position itself as a premier destination for travelers seeking rich and diverse experiences.
