Lao PDR and China’s Central Banks Sign MOU on Digital Currency Cooperation at Boao Forum

Governor Bounleua Sinxayvoravong of the Bank of the Lao PDR has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with People’s Bank of China Governor Pan Gongsheng to strengthen cooperation on digital payments and central bank digital currency. The signing took place on Wednesday at the 2024 Boao Forum for Asia.

In an interview with CGTN’s Guan Xin, Sinxayvoravong expressed full support for economic and financial integration in the region. He highlighted the importance of collaboration in digital finance to enhance connectivity and economic growth among Asian countries.

The MOU aims to promote the development and interoperability of digital currencies between the Lao PDR and the Chinese mainland, facilitating cross-border transactions and fostering closer economic ties.

This agreement reflects the commitment of both central banks to embrace technological innovation in the financial sector and contribute to regional economic integration.
