Ban Ki-moon Calls for Unity Using Chinese Idiom at Boao Forum

At the Boao Forum for Asia, Chairman Ban Ki-moon emphasized the importance of unity among political leaders by invoking the Chinese idiom “同舟共济” (tong zhou gong ji), which translates to “cross a river in the same boat.”

In an interview with CGTN, Ban Ki-moon explained that much like rowing a boat, success requires all parties to work together towards a common goal. “Beyond party lines, leaders must unite for the nation’s and people’s greater good,” he stated.

The former UN Secretary-General highlighted that in facing global challenges, cooperation and solidarity are essential. He urged leaders worldwide to set aside differences and collaborate for the benefit of all.
