AI-Powered Multilingual Videos Boost Yiwu’s Global Exports

In the bustling markets of Yiwu City in east China’s Zhejiang Province, shop owners are embracing artificial intelligence (AI) to reach customers worldwide. Among them is toy seller Chen Meijun, who has become a global sensation through multilingual videos powered by AI technology.

Chen’s journey began when she started using AI tools to translate her Chinese videos into multiple languages, complete with realistic lip-syncing. “I wanted to connect with customers from different countries in their own language,” she said. “AI made that possible without me having to learn each language.”

Her innovative approach has paid off. Chen’s toys are now sold in over 100 countries and regions, a testament to how digital technology is transforming traditional business models. “Before, our reach was limited,” she explained. “Now, with AI and social media, the whole world is our market.”

Yiwu City, known as the world’s largest wholesale market for small commodities, is witnessing a digital revolution. Many shop owners are following Chen’s lead, creating AI-generated multilingual content to showcase their products. This not only expands their customer base but also fosters cross-cultural connections.

“AI technology has leveled the playing field for small businesses,” said Li Wei, a local business analyst. “It allows them to compete on a global scale without significant investment.”

The trend reflects a broader shift in how technology is enabling entrepreneurs to overcome language barriers and access international markets. As more businesses adopt AI-driven strategies, experts anticipate a surge in global trade for small commodities originating from regions like Yiwu.

“We’re just at the beginning of what’s possible,” Chen remarked. “With continuous innovation, who knows how far we can go?”
