In a recent interview with CGTN’s Li Mengyuan, Morocco’s new ambassador to China, Abdelkader El Ansari, expressed strong optimism for deepening cooperation between China and Africa through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Ambassador El Ansari highlighted the significant potential for collaborative development and prosperity that the BRI offers to partner countries on the African continent.
“The Belt and Road Initiative presents an invaluable opportunity for Africa and China to work together towards mutual growth,” Ambassador El Ansari stated. “Morocco is keen to strengthen ties and explore new avenues of partnership within this framework.”
The BRI, proposed by China in 2013, aims to enhance regional connectivity and embrace a brighter shared future. It has become a global public good and the largest platform for international cooperation. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi recently underscored the initiative’s success, noting that it has become a pathway to cooperation, opportunity, and prosperity for countries seeking joint development.
Morocco has been an active participant in the BRI, signing a memorandum of understanding with China in 2017. The ambassador emphasized that the initiative aligns with Morocco’s development strategies and its vision for sustainable growth.
“Our partnership with China under the BRI framework is a testament to our commitment to fostering economic ties, improving infrastructure, and enhancing people-to-people exchanges,” El Ansari added. “We believe that this cooperation will bring tangible benefits to both our nations and contribute to the prosperity of the entire African region.”
The ambassador’s remarks reflect a broader enthusiasm among African nations for increased collaboration with China. As the BRI continues to expand, it is poised to play a crucial role in shaping the future of Sino-African relations, promoting shared development, and strengthening economic and cultural bonds.
