As China’s political season, the Two Sessions, unfolds, the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) is being highlighted as a key driver in strengthening ties between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Wei Zhaohui, a member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and secretary-general of the CAEXPO Secretariat, emphasized the Expo’s significant role in an interview with CGTN’s Shen Shiwei.
"The CAEXPO has evolved into a crucial open platform fostering cooperation between China and ASEAN countries," Wei stated. He noted that exhibitors consistently praise the Expo for its substantial contributions to regional collaboration and economic growth.
The CAEXPO, held annually in Nanning, the capital of China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, serves as a bridge connecting businesses and investors across the region. It plays a pivotal role in promoting the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0, aiming to deepen economic integration and expand mutual benefits among member nations.
Over the years, the Expo has facilitated numerous trade agreements and business partnerships, enhancing connectivity and cultural exchange. Wei’s comments during the Two Sessions underscore the importance of the CAEXPO in supporting China’s commitment to opening up and fostering regional prosperity.
As the global economy faces uncertainties, platforms like the CAEXPO become ever more critical in uniting economies, stimulating growth, and building resilient partnerships. The ongoing dialogue at the Two Sessions reaffirms China’s dedication to strengthening its ties with ASEAN countries through continued cooperation and mutual development.
