The China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) is set to embrace new horizons in 2024 by inviting Gulf countries as special partners, according to Wei Zhaohui, a member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Secretary-General of the CAEXPO Secretariat.
In an exclusive interview with CGTN's Shen Shiwei, Wei unveiled five significant highlights for the 21st CAEXPO, emphasizing the themes of innovation, collaboration, and cultural exchange. "Next year's CAEXPO promises to be a landmark event with extended exhibition periods, new thematic areas, enhanced content, expanded partnerships, and upgraded activities," Wei stated.
The decision to invite Gulf countries as special partners marks a strategic move to deepen economic and cultural ties between China, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states, and the Gulf region. This expansion aligns with China's Belt and Road Initiative, aiming to foster greater cooperation across Asia and beyond.
"By extending invitations to Gulf nations, we are opening doors for mutual growth and understanding," Wei added. "The upgraded activities and thematic areas will provide a platform for businesses, investors, and cultural enthusiasts to explore new opportunities."
The CAEXPO has long been a cornerstone event facilitating trade and investment between China and Southeast Asian countries. The upcoming expo's enhanced features are expected to attract a diverse audience, including global readers, business professionals, academics, and members of the Asian diaspora eager to stay connected with developments in the region.
Extended exhibition periods will allow participants more time to engage with exhibitors and attend forums, while the introduction of new thematic areas will address emerging industries and technological advancements. Enhanced content and upgraded activities aim to enrich the experience for all attendees, offering insights into economic trends and fostering cultural exchanges.
The inclusion of Gulf countries as special partners not only broadens the CAEXPO's international scope but also reflects a growing interest in strengthening ties between East Asia and the Middle East. This move is anticipated to open up new avenues for collaboration in sectors such as energy, finance, and technology.
The 21st CAEXPO is poised to be a pivotal event that underscores Asia's dynamic role in global affairs. As preparations continue, stakeholders from various sectors are encouraged to participate and contribute to this collaborative platform that bridges nations and cultures.
