Sri Lanka and Israel Sign Direct Air Service Agreement, Launching Direct Flights

Sri Lanka and Israel have taken a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations by signing a direct air service agreement. On Thursday, Sri Lanka’s Ports, Shipping and Aviation Minister, Nimal Siripala de Silva, announced the historic pact at a press briefing held at the President’s Media Center.

“This agreement marks a new chapter in our relationship with Israel,” Minister de Silva stated. “The commencement of direct flights between our two nations will not only enhance passenger convenience but also open new avenues for tourism, business, and cultural exchange.”

The direct air links are expected to provide a boost to Sri Lankan workers seeking employment opportunities in Israel, simplifying their travel arrangements and reducing transit times. Additionally, the ease of direct flights is anticipated to attract more Israeli tourists to Sri Lanka’s renowned beaches, historical sites, and natural attractions.

Industry experts believe that the agreement will foster economic growth by facilitating trade and investment between the two countries. The enhanced connectivity is poised to benefit entrepreneurs, investors, and market analysts interested in exploring opportunities in both markets.

The announcement has been met with enthusiasm from various sectors, including the Sri Lankan diaspora and cultural enthusiasts who welcome the prospect of increased cultural exchanges.

The exact date for the commencement of the direct flights is yet to be announced, but aviation authorities from both countries are expected to collaborate closely to finalize the operational details.

This development underscores Sri Lanka’s ongoing efforts to expand its global partnerships and enhance its role in international affairs, particularly within the Asian region.
