The China-U.S. Economic Working Group convened its third meeting in Beijing on February 5-6, according to a statement released by China’s Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.
Co-chaired by Chinese Vice Minister of Finance Liao Min and U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Jay Shambaugh, the meeting facilitated in-depth, candid, pragmatic, and constructive exchanges on a range of significant topics.
Discussions centered on the macroeconomic situations and economic policies of both nations, G20 fiscal and financial cooperation, the debt challenges faced by developing countries, and industrial policies.
The Chinese delegation expressed concerns regarding U.S. tariff increases on China, mutual investment restrictions, and sanctions affecting Chinese enterprises.
Both sides agreed on the importance of maintaining open lines of communication and continuing their dialogue to foster mutual understanding and address shared economic challenges.
