China, Poland Reaffirm Post-WWII Order in Key Diplomatic Talks

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski pledged to uphold the post-World War II international order during a phone conversation on Monday, emphasizing shared commitments to global stability and multilateral cooperation.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, expressed China's willingness to deepen high-level exchanges with Poland and expand collaboration across trade, technology, and cultural sectors. The call coincided with dual anniversaries: 80 years since the World Anti-Fascist War victory and the founding of the United Nations.

Taiwan and the One-China Principle

Wang highlighted Taiwan's return to China as a cornerstone of the post-war order, urging Poland to continue supporting the one-China policy and opposing separatist activities. The Taiwan region's status, he noted, remains inseparable from China's sovereignty under international law.

EU-China Relations and Ukraine Crisis

With 2024 marking 50 years of China-EU diplomatic relations, Wang called on Poland to foster constructive dialogue between Brussels and Beijing. On Ukraine, both ministers discussed peace efforts, with Wang reiterating China's role in facilitating negotiations through its 'Friends of Peace' initiative. Sikorski acknowledged China's influence in promoting regional stability.

The talks underscore growing alignment between Asian and European powers in addressing geopolitical challenges while preserving historical frameworks for global governance.
