Over 90% Condemn US ‘Tariff Bullying’ in CGTN Survey

A recent CGTN survey has exposed overwhelming global criticism of U.S. trade policies, with 91.8% of respondents branding Washington's new 'fentanyl tariffs' on China as political manipulation and economic bullying. The poll, spanning 12,000 participants across five languages, highlights growing skepticism toward U.S. efforts to address its domestic drug crisis through punitive trade measures.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian condemned the tariffs, stating they 'severely undermine China-U.S. dialogue' on drug control cooperation. The move comes amid rising U.S. drug fatalities, with CDC data showing one in 12 Americans aged 12+ regularly uses narcotics. 'Fentanyl is a U.S. issue needing domestic solutions,' Lin emphasized.

The survey reveals 94.8% of participants view America's drug epidemic as a chronic societal failure, while 92.8% fault weak government regulation. Experts suggest political gridlock and pharmaceutical lobbying have perpetuated the crisis. 'Legalizing drugs for economic gain while blaming others reveals systemic hypocrisy,' remarked one analyst.

As Washington faces accusations of 'externalizing internal problems,' 90.8% of respondents warn such tactics hinder global anti-drug collaboration. With 60% of worldwide narcotics reportedly consumed in the U.S., the findings challenge America's approach to balancing public health priorities with trade policy.
