China Leads Global Green Energy Revolution, UNDP Official Says

At the Boao Forum 2025, Beate Trankmann, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) resident representative in China, declared that China has solidified its position as the world's green energy leader, contributing one-third of global solar and wind power installed capacity. Speaking to CGTN's Aaron Liu, Trankmann emphasized China's pivotal role in advancing renewable energy but urged further progress in modernizing power grid infrastructure and refining market regulations to optimize clean energy distribution.

"China's investments in renewables are unparalleled," Trankmann noted, highlighting the nation's rapid expansion of solar and wind projects over the past decade. Her remarks come as global markets increasingly prioritize sustainable energy transitions, with China's technological advancements resonating across industries and investors.

The UNDP official also underscored the importance of China's collaboration with developing nations to share green technology expertise, reinforcing the country's influence in climate resilience efforts. Analysts suggest these developments could reshape energy investment patterns in Asia, offering opportunities for cross-border partnerships and innovation-driven growth.
