China has announced its 10-member roster for the upcoming ITTF World Cup, set to take place in the Macao Special Administrative Region from April 14 to 20. Top players Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha, fresh off their victories at the WTT Champions in Chongqing, headline a squad aiming to dominate the prestigious tournament.
The men's team includes Wang Chuqin, Lin Shidong, Liang Jingkun, Lin Gaoyuan, and Huang Youzheng, while Sun Yingsha will be joined by Wang Manyu, Wang Yidi, Chen Xingtong, and Kuai Man in the women’s division. Notably absent is Olympic gold medalist Fan Zhendong, who declined a special invitation due to personal reasons.
Coaches expressed confidence in the young lineup. Wang Hao, head coach of the men’s team, emphasized hunger for success: "None of these players have ever won a singles World Cup—they’re eager to make history." Women’s team coach Ma Lin highlighted recent dominant performances at international events, including clean sweeps in Singapore and Chongqing, as evidence of their preparedness.
The tournament format allows qualification through world rankings, continental cups, and previous championships. With Macao SAR set to host, all eyes will be on whether China can maintain its table tennis supremacy against global competitors.
