A tragic boat collision occurred on Tuesday morning in Hunan Province, Chinese mainland, resulting in two confirmed deaths and 14 individuals still missing.
The incident took place at approximately 10 a.m. on the Yuanshui River in Qinglang Township, Yuanling County. A passenger boat collided with an oil waste recovery vessel, causing the passenger boat to capsize and sink. Nineteen people were aboard the passenger boat at the time of the collision, with all thrown into the water. Fortunately, none of the personnel from the oil waste recovery vessel fell overboard.
Rescue operations are currently underway, with over 60 rescue workers and more than 10 boats deployed to locate the missing individuals. So far, three survivors have been pulled from the water and are receiving medical attention in stable condition.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collision to prevent future occurrences.
