China is seeking a collaborative approach with the European Union (EU) regarding the ongoing anti-subsidy case against Chinese electric vehicles. He Yadong, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, expressed at a press conference on Thursday the country's hope for concrete action and a willingness to meet halfway.
He highlighted that the case has generated considerable concern across various sectors in both China and Europe. In a recent video call with China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao on Friday, Ola Kallenius, president of the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association and chairman of Mercedes-Benz Group AG's board of management, emphasized the European automotive industry's support for resolving differences swiftly through dialogue and consultation.
The spokesperson reiterated that China has consistently sought to advance dialogue and consultation, urging the European side to consider the industry's perspectives. He stressed the importance of pragmatism and balance, encouraging both sides to address each other's reasonable concerns and work together to achieve productive outcomes.
China and the EU are significant trade partners with complementary and mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation. Highlighting the strong symbiotic relationship, the spokesperson noted that this year marks the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic relations. He added that China is committed to expanding cooperation on green industries, including the electric vehicle sector, and aims to address trade frictions through ongoing dialogue and consultation.
