China and Somalia Strengthen Bilateral Ties at Diplomatic Meeting

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi on Tuesday to discuss the bilateral relationship between China and Somalia.

Wang Yi emphasized China's commitment to assisting Somalia in implementing the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. He highlighted China's readiness to support Somalia's stability and development efforts.

The Chinese Foreign Minister praised Somalia's active participation in the 10 partnership action plans, which aim to advance modernization and leverage China's zero-tariff policy for the benefit of least-developed African countries.

Somali Foreign Minister Fiqi expressed appreciation for the strong foundation of friendship between Somalia and China. He thanked China for upholding justice for Somalia in the international arena.

Fiqi reaffirmed Somalia's adherence to the one-China principle and condemned any actions or statements that might undermine China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
