Maddison’s Early Goal Secures Tottenham 1-0 Victory Over United

Tottenham Hotspur secured a 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday, ending their Premier League home win drought with a goal from midfielder James Maddison. Maddison, returning to the starting lineup after an injury, scored the decisive goal in the 13th minute by tapping in a rebound from close range.

The win marks Tottenham's first home league victory in 105 days, providing relief to Australian manager Ange Postecoglou. With this result, Tottenham moved above Manchester United into 12th place with 30 points.

Manchester United continues to struggle under manager Ruben Amorim, who has lost eight of the 14 Premier League matches since taking charge. United dropped to 15th place with 29 points, becoming the first United team to lose a league double against Spurs since the 1989-90 season.

Despite opportunities from both sides, Manchester United was unable to capitalize, with Alejandro Garnacho missing a golden opportunity in the first half. Amorim expressed frustration over the team's performance but remained confident in his work, stating, \"The place in the table is my worry, I am not worried about me.\"

Tottenham saw their injury list decrease as first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and playmaker Maddison returned to the starting lineup. In contrast, United's challenges deepened with the potential loss of versatile player Amad Diallo for the remainder of the season.

Postecoglou highlighted the importance of the win, saying, \"It was important we won today. We've had it pretty tough for the past two and a half months. We feel, and I certainly feel, there's a massive opportunity in the back half of the year.\"

With 13 Premier League games remaining, both Tottenham and Manchester United remain Europa League contenders.
