China Ready to Elevate Ties with Argentina for Mutual Benefits, Wang Yi Announces

At the Munich Security Conference on Friday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi declared China's commitment to elevating its bilateral relationship with Argentina, aiming to bring greater benefits to both nations.

Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, conveyed his message during a meeting with Argentine Foreign Minister Gerardo Werthein. He highlighted the long-standing friendship between the Chinese and Argentine people and emphasized that the cooperation between the two countries is founded on equality and mutual benefit.

\"China is willing to work with Argentina to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen high-level exchanges and collaborations across various fields, and push our bilateral relations to a new level,\" Wang stated.

He further noted the importance of respecting each other's core interests and major concerns to consolidate the political foundation of their bilateral relations. Wang also affirmed China's stance of not seeking any sphere of influence or engaging in geopolitical competition, reiterating its commitment to multilateralism in international affairs.

Wang praised the China-Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Forum, established a decade ago, for significantly enhancing cooperation between China and Latin American countries, resulting in tangible benefits for their populations.

Argentine Foreign Minister Werthein echoed these sentiments, expressing Argentina's eagerness to strengthen high-level exchanges and deepen practical cooperation with China. He thanked China for its support in Argentina's stance on the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands, also known as the Falklands, and reiterated Argentina's adherence to the one-China principle. Werthein emphasized Argentina's willingness to be a reliable and stable partner for China, aiming to foster the development of Latin America-China relations through strengthened bilateral ties.
