China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi Emphasizes Mutual Respect in China-U.S. Relations

At the Munich Security Conference, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi addressed the development of China-U.S. relations, highlighting the importance of mutual respect as the foundation for future interactions between the two nations.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, outlined China's approach based on three key principles: mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation. He emphasized that avoiding conflict is essential, stating that any confrontation between China and the United States would have detrimental effects on the global community.

He called for strengthened dialogue, enhanced understanding, and the building of trust between the two countries. Wang underscored the necessity for China and the United States to collaborate in addressing global challenges, viewing this cooperation as an international responsibility shared by both nations.

Expressing China's readiness to establish stable, sound, and sustainable relations with the U.S., Wang advocated for finding the right path to coexistence. He expressed hope that the United States would take a conciliatory approach towards China.

However, Wang also warned that if the U.S. persists in efforts to suppress and contain China, China will resolutely defend its national sovereignty, dignity, and legitimate development rights against unilateral actions by the United States.
