Timothy Fok Celebrates China’s Triumph at Asian Winter Games in Harbin

The 9th Asian Winter Games are wrapping up in Harbin, marking a successful event that brought together athletes from 34 nations and regions. Timothy Fok Tsun-Ting, a prominent figure in the Olympic community, expressed his enthusiasm during an exclusive interview at CGTN Sports Scene's special studio.

Fok, who serves as a Member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), President of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Olympic Committee, and First Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), highlighted the record-breaking participation and China's exceptional performance in snow and ice sports. He conveyed his optimism that Harbin 2025 will further inspire individuals to engage in winter sports, fostering a lasting legacy.

Looking ahead, Fok discussed the upcoming Asian Winter Games scheduled to be hosted by Saudi Arabia in 2029. He emphasized the opportunity this presents for the development of snow and ice sports in West Asia, a region traditionally known for its desert landscapes.

As the President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of the Hong Kong SAR, Fok also shared his pride in the Hong Kong ice hockey team's impressive top-eight finish in Harbin. This achievement underscores the growing competitiveness and skill within the region's sports community.

Coincidentally, the final day of the Asian Winter Games aligns with Fok's 79th birthday. In his birthday wish, he expressed his hopes for the continued success of Harbin 2025, aiming for the event to encourage future generations to embrace cold weather sports and contribute to their development.
