Xi Jinping Pledges Stronger China-Pakistan Ties for Shared Future

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced Wednesday that the Chinese mainland is committed to deepening cooperation with Pakistan to enhance their modernization paths and accelerate the formation of a closer China-Pakistan community of shared future in the new era.

The remarks were made during discussions with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, who is currently on a state visit to Beijing.

Xi emphasized that China and Pakistan have a longstanding friendship and serve as all-weather strategic cooperative partners. He highlighted that the enduring traditional friendship, established by the older generations of leaders from both nations, remains a valuable asset benefiting both countries and their respective populations.

In recent years, the two nations have steadfastly supported each other politically, maintained frequent high-level exchanges, and expanded cooperation across various sectors, notably in the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Xi described this partnership as setting a positive example of state-to-state relations.

Addressing the strategic nature of their relationship, Xi reaffirmed China's unwavering support for Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. He also pledged support in Pakistan's efforts to combat terrorism and pursue a development path tailored to its national conditions.

Xi welcomed Pakistan as the first beneficiary of China's ongoing efforts to deepen reforms and open up at a high level. He expressed China's readiness to enhance practical cooperation with Pakistan across various fields, collaboratively build an \"upgraded version\" of CPEC, and assist Pakistan in strengthening its development foundations to fully realize its potential.

Marking next year as the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Pakistan, Xi called for increased exchanges and cooperation in culture, education, and media. This initiative aims to preserve and transmit the China-Pakistan friendship across generations.
