Xi Jinping Sends Heartfelt Chinese New Year Card to Friends in Iowa

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday sent a Chinese New Year card in response to friends in the U.S. state of Iowa, emphasizing the strong bonds and potential for cooperation between China and the United States.

In his message, President Xi highlighted that China and the U.S. share extensive common interests and possess a broad space for collaboration, positioning themselves as partners and friends on the global stage.

Recounting the warm reception he received during his visit to the beautiful state of Iowa 40 years ago, Xi expressed that those memories remain vivid and continue to inspire his vision for Sino-U.S. relations.

President Xi further stated that China and the United States can achieve mutual success and shared prosperity, benefiting not only both nations but also contributing positively to the global community.

He expressed his hope for increased visits and exchanges between the two peoples, aiming to craft new stories of friendship and make significant contributions to the development of China-U.S. relations.

The initial Chinese New Year card was sent by 58 individuals from Iowa, including friends Luca Berrone, Gary Dvorchak, and Sarah Lande; former U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad and his wife; former President of the World Food Prize Foundation Kenneth Quinn; and representatives of teachers, students, and parents. These individuals were part of an initiative inviting 50,000 young Americans to China for exchange and study over a five-year period.

The card reminisced President Xi's first visit to Iowa in 1985 and sent New Year greetings in the Year of the Snake. The representatives expressed gratitude for Xi's \"50,000 in Five Years\" initiative, shared their experiences of visiting China, and looked forward to future visits.
